​Job Description:

Our Fintech client in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled and experienced DBA with a strong focus on SQL query optimisation to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of multiple database technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain and optimise databases across various platforms, ensuring high availability, security and performance.

• Collaborate closely with software developers to provide expertise and guidance on SQL query performance tuning, database design and indexing strategies.

• Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies to minimise data loss and downtime.

• Monitor database performance, proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure optimal system efficiency.

• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely solutions to maintain data integrity.

• Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations by implementing and maintaining access controls and encryption.

• Stay current with emerging database technologies and trends to recommend and implement improvements.

• Manage the deployment of database updates and patches, as well as database version upgrades.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide database support for development, testing and production environments.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a DBA with expertise in SQL query optimisation.

• Strong proficiency in database technologies, including MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL, Azure Synapse and Oracle Fusion (with least priority for Oracle Fusion and DB2).

• Knowledge of database design, performance tuning and optimisation techniques.

• Experience with data backup and recovery procedures.

• Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the financial industry.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
